Classic Soviet Cars: Gaz M-20 Pobeda
'Pobeda' is the Russian for victory and is a name given to mountains, islands and towns and also the name given to this classic Soviet car. There is even a Pobeda metro station in Moscow. The car was developed in the early 1940's and put into production in 1946 and is said to be named "Victory" in celebration of the end of World War II.
1:43 scale die-cast model. The M-20 was a brand new development from the GAZ factory under designers Andrey Aleksandrovich Lipgart and V. Samoilov. For its time the design style was quite revolutionary and unlike anything that had come before. Production lasted until 1958, with one major upgrade, the M-20B, which offered a radio and improved upholstery.
