Classic Soviet Cars: VAZ 2108 Sputnik
It's the classic VAZ (Lada to you and me) in the classic green! Yes, the Lada was the most produced-car in history thanks to the Soviet production lines running non-stop to keep the comrades motoring! The 2108 model was in continuous production for 20 years from 1984.
1:43 scale die-cast model. As is typical for the VAZ range, the name was changed when exported from Russia. At home it was called the VAZ 2108 Sputnik but in the West we knew it as the Lada Samara. Sputnik is, of course, Russian for 'satellite', and Samara named after the Russian city on the Volga.
